TROUBLES AND REWARD

2 Corinthians 4:18 So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.

John chapter 15 and 16 has several verses telling the disciples of Jesus Christ and all believers about the challenges they will go through. Some of the things He said were very scary. In telling us about these many trials this is how our Lord my Master Jesus Christ puts it in John Chapter 16:1-2 “I have told you these things so that you won’t abandon your faith. For you will be expelled from the synagogues, and the time is coming when those who kill you will think they are doing a holy service for God.

The magnitude of the troubles that believers will face called for Jesus Christ to give us a briefing. Beloved troubles, sufferings and loss are footings in our walk with God, they are part of the package. At the end of John 16 Jesus repeats this in John 16:33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will  have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."

Beloved to overcome the challenges, troubles and sufferings we meet in our walk with God we need to abound in faith and have peace in the Lord Jesus Christ. Paul writes in 2nd Corinthians 4:17-18 to teach us how to abound in faith in times of trouble. For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.

We must continue in faith because troubles are not temporal and it also produces in us eternal glory as reward. Your troubles will not remain forever. It will soon pass and the unseen glory will manifest. Another thing we need amid life's challenges and difficulties is peace. Peace is given. Receive the peace of God to remain calm and immovable in all situations and circumstances. John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ I look unto in as the author and finisher of my faith. Grant me peace and increase my faith that I may be immovable in Jesus' name. Amen.
