OUTSMART THE DEVIL

2 Corinthians 2:11 so that Satan will not outsmart us. For we are familiar with his evil schemes.

The devil has a lot of schemes he uses against the children of God. Most often we focus on his external schemes and act offensively towards them in prayer and supplications. Psalms 91:5-6 You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. These are real schemes of the devil and we must relent in prayers concerning them.

But there is another scheme the devil often uses to outsmart believers and to take advantage of them. With this scheme, the action of the believer seems justifiable but in the long round, it is the devil taking advantage of us. The scheme the devil often uses to outsmart us is unforgiveness. The Church of Corinth was holding a grudge against someone who had sinned. Paul writes to them and tells them enough of the opposition and unforgiveness towards this man.

The Bible does not even allow unforgiveness towards sinners how much more your fellow believers? It is to your advantage to forgive people for the things they are sorry for and the ones they are even not sorry about. All these loving those who love you and hating those who hate you place you on equal ground with unbelievers according to Jesus Christ.

Matthew 5:44-48 But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven.
For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike. If you love only those who love you, what reward is there for that? Even corrupt tax collectors do that much. If you are kind only to your friends, how are you different from anyone else? Even pagans do that. But you are to be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect. Forgiveness brings you into dimensions of perfection and is a sure way to outsmart the devil.  Forgive and rule and reign with Christ Jesus in heavenly places.

Prayer: Father in the name of Jesus Christ  I let go of any unforgiveness and bitterness in my heart. As I forgive cause me to rule and reign with you in Jesus' name. Amen
