THE TOTALITY OF THE PRIESTHOOD MINISTRY

2 Samuel 6:20 When David returned home to bless his own family, Michal, the daughter of Saul, came out to meet him. She said in disgust, “How distinguished the king of Israel looked today, shamelessly exposing himself to the servant girls like any vulgar person might do!”

In 2 Samuel 6: 18- 19 King David performed his priestly duties to the people of Israel. 2 Samuel 6:18-19 And when David had finished offering burnt offerings and peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord of hosts. Then he distributed among all the people, among the whole multitude of Israel, both the women and the men, to everyone a loaf of bread, a piece of meat, and a cake of raisins. So all the people departed, everyone to his house.

David as a priest and King had the responsibility of blessing the people of Israel and serving them with the abundance of the house. But his responsibility as a priest did not end there in 2nd Samuel 6:20 he returned home to bless his family. When David returned home to bless his own family. Your priestly ministry must not only focus on outsiders but your own household must also receive the blessing from you.  Just as you consciously teach and pronounce blessings for those outside you must consciously do the same in your home too.

The New Testament puts it this way in
1 Timothy 3:2,4-5 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded, of good behaviour, hospitable, able to teach; ... one who rules his own house well, having his children in submission with all reverence (for if a man does not know how to rule his own house, how will he take care of the church of God?). Your ministry must begin from home and end in your home.

Prayer: Holy Spirit prompt me and guide me to consciously train my household in the ways of the Lord and to bless them as I do other people in Jesus' name. Amen
