DANGERS OF TAKING FALSE CREDIT

2 Samuel 1:16 So David said to him, "Your blood is on your own head, for your own mouth has testified against you, saying, `I have killed the Lord`s anointed'.

Everyone loves to be accredited with great work. Credits or merits are awarded based on potential. In our generation, many have been given false credit. Some get credit through lies, some bribe their way through while others get their by having sexual affairs with those in charge of giving the rewards. Our text today teaches the danger of taking false credit. 1st Samuel 31: 4-5 gives us the truth about how King Saul died. 1 Samuel 31:4-5 Then Saul said to his armorbearer, "Draw your sword, and thrust me through with it, lest these uncircumcised men come and thrust me through and abuse me." But his armorbearer would not, for he was greatly afraid. Therefore Saul took a sword and fell on it. And when his armorbearer saw that Saul was dead, he also fell on his sword, and died with him.

There was a young Amalekite who felt because Saul saw David as his enemy, David would be excited about the death of Saul and even go further to reward the one who would kill Saul. What a wrong assumption. He definitely did not know David and had not read or heard that David had the opportunity to kill Saul himself and spared him. Lies and taking false credit leads to your shame and premature execution.

2 Samuel 1:14-16 So David said to him, "How was it you were not afraid to put forth your hand to destroy the Lord`s anointed?" Then David called one of the young men and said, "Go near, and execute him!" And he struck him so that he died. So David said to him, "Your blood is on your own head, for your own mouth has testified against you, saying, `I have killed the Lord`s anointed'.

Prayer: Lord Jesus forgive me of any lies and false credits I have taken upon myself. I surrender every lie and false impression. Holy Spirit pour into the Spirit of truth in Jesus name. Amen
