EXAMPLARY LEADERSHIP

Luke 22:26-27 But not so among you; on the contrary, he who is greatest among you, let him be as the younger, and he who governs as he who serves. For who is greater, he who sits at the table, or he who serves? Is it not he who sits at the table? Yet I am among you as the One who serves.

Am sure you have been educated on different leadership styles. Some leaders are dictators or autocratic, others are democratic while others combine the two in their leadership style. The education on leadership from Christ's perspective is different from what the world teaches. And we would have been experiencing the best version of leadership across board at all levels if we had adopted the style of Jesus Christ.

In Christ leadership is about servanthood. You serve the people with your wisdom, skill, intellectual prowess, time, resources etc. The welfare and the well-being of the people must be of great interest to you. This is not the natural inclination of leadership. When the people of Israel opted to be ruled by kings instead of God, He outlined to them how they will be ill-treated by earthly kings.

1 Samuel 8:11,13,17-18 And he said, "This will be the behaviour of the king who will reign over you: He will take your sons and appoint them for his own chariots and to be his horsemen, and some will run before his chariots. ... He will take your daughters to be perfumers, cooks, and bakers. ... He will take a tenth of your sheep. And you will be his servants. And you will cry out in that day because of your king whom you have chosen for yourselves, and the Lord will not hear you in that day."

Jesus Christ is at work in you as one who serves. He came to live by the example that all who desire to lead should follow.  Your leadership style and mindset should be opposite to that of the world. For who is greater, he who sits at the table, or he who serves? It is time to move from sitting at the table to serving in that comes your lifting and promotion.

Prayer: Holy Spirit give me a heart that serves God and humanity genuinely. As I do that let every blessing of leadership be my portion in Jesus' name. Amen
