ANALYSIS ON THE LOST

Luke 15:2 And the Pharisees and scribes complained, saying, "This Man receives sinners and eats with them."

In Luke Chapter fifteen Jesus Christ uses three parables to explain to His critics the worth of souls to Him and also tell believers the need to go after one lost soul. In Jesus' submission about lost in Luke fifteen, He used the parable of one lost sheep out of a hundred sheep, one lost coin out of ten and the story of the prodigal son. In the story of the sheep, you realise that the owner had hundred sheep yet when one got missen he forgot about the ninety-nine and went after one. The woman had just ten coins when one got missen she did a thorough search to find it.

In this illustration, Jesus Christ is teaching us that both those with huge and small congregations and groups should be interested in soul-winning. Using a man and woman in this is teaching us that the salvation of souls is not gender specific. Both men and women, boys and girls, grandpa's and grandma's ladies and gentlemen must be involved in soul winning. If it is alright for a woman to be a firefighter, a judge, security personnel and so on, then is more than alright for a woman to be involved in any assignment that leads to the salvation of souls.

From the story of the prodigal son, Jesus teaches that there can be sons and daughters who will leave the father's fold. These are not lost they leave on their own because they want early pleasures and satisfaction, and often the young ones do that. Representing those who are not growing in the faith.

From the three parables Jesus shared in Luke fifteen two examples represented people who were genuinely lost. The lost sheep and the lost coin. It means the majority of people are genuinely lost. Percentage-wise from Luke fifteen we see sixty- six percent are souls who are genuinely missing. And thirty- four percent leave on their own accord thus those who fall in the group of the prodigal son.

Jesus Christ expects believers to go all out, and do all it takes in search of the ones that are lost genuinely. Then we keep praying for those who have left to return to their senses and come back to the faith. God is ready to accept them and will meet them halfway with love and compassion.

One common thing that runs through after the lost soul is found is joy, rejoicing, and celebration. Luke 15:6,9,32 And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbours, saying to them, `Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!` And when she has found it, she calls her friends and neighbours together, saying, `Rejoice with me, for I have found the piece which I lost! It was right that we should make merry and be glad, for your brother was dead and is alive again, and was lost and is found.

As believers, we must know that God does not celebrate miracles, healings,
breakthroughs etc. It is the recipients of these things that celebrate. What God celebrates is the salvation of souls. We should not only focus on things that make us celebrate only but we must also prioritise the saving of the lost that brings the celebration to God and the host of heaven.

Prayer: Father we pray for believers all over the world and those that are yet to believe that the burden of souls will be poured out upon us by the power of the Holy Spirit and bring many into the kingdom of God in Jesus' name. Amen.
