MERCY
Isaiah 14:1 For the LORD will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob.
When a president decides to give amnesty to some group of people, it is not because they deserve it or have lobbied their way through, it is just an act of mercy that is shown to them for their freedom.
Exodus 33:19 And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy. Mercy and Grace are acts God does out of His prerogative. He is merciful and gracious to both the righteous and the sinner. For sure one person who experienced the mercy of God is father David to the extent that he established a covenant of mercy with God for His generation called the sure mercies of David.
Isaiah 55:3 Incline your ear, and come to Me. Hear, and your soul shall live; And I will make an everlasting covenant with you— The sure mercies of David. Acts 13:34 And that He raised Him from the dead, no more to return to corruption, He has spoken thus: ‘I will give you the sure mercies of David.’ This covenant of mercy was established with David when he decided in his heart to build the Lord a temple. Just a thought provoked the covenant of Mercy revealed to David through the prophet Nathan. Read (2nd Samuel 7:8-16).
One of the ways we provoke God’s mercy is to think about His Kingdom and his people. David thought of building God a house and Solomon his son thought about the people of God and asked God for wisdom to rule over them. Mercy will abound unto you as think about God's Kingdom and His people. David showed us in the book of Psalms another way to encounter God's mercy. Mercy is mentioned 90 times or more in the book of Psalms. These are some of the ways we see them. Psalms 5:7 But as for me, I will come into Your house in the multitude of Your mercy; In fear of You, I will worship toward Your holy temple. Psalms 6:2 Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am weak; O Lord, heal me, for my bones are troubled. Psalms 25:16 Turn Yourself to me, and have mercy on me, For I am desolate and afflicted. When we call on God for mercy He shows us mercy.
Hebrews 4:16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. One of the benefits of going before God is to find mercy and grace to help. In mercy and grace is our help.
Prayer: Father thank you for mercy. Jesus Christ Son of David have mercy on me and help me today as I come before your presence in Jesus' name. Amen.
