d cities of Israel will also be destroyed, and the power of Damascus will end. The few left in Aram will share the fate of Israel's departed glory," says the Lord Almighty.  "In that day the glory of Israel will be very dim, for poverty will stalk the land.

There are individuals, nations, institutions, clubs and even tribes who delight in walking in old glories. Their regular cliche is "when we use to do this and that".God does not celebrate past glories, He uses them to urge us to higher levels of greatness.
David getting ready to fight the giant Goliath recall the glory he had with the bears and lions and that spurred him on to fight Goliath to bring God's people their present glory at then. There are things we do that cause the glory of God to leave us.
1 Samuel 3:13-14 For I have told him that I will judge his house forever for the iniquity which he knows, because his sons made themselves vile, and he did not restrain them. And therefore I have sworn to the house of Eli that the iniquity of Eli’s house shall not be atoned for by sacrifice or offering forever.” This is a serious pronouncement on the house of Eli, the high priest from God, that eternally there is nothing they can do to be at peace with God - mercy.
Beloved, we depart from God's glory when we do not deal with our sins and the sins of our household. Today parents do not restrain their children from errors, some even go to the extent of rebuking teachers, guardians and well-meaning people who take the initiative to correct their wards from their wrongdoings and to bring them to the right path.

The glory of God over your life is His presence without it you are nothing. But the presence of God can not stay with sin and rebellion. Therefore when the rebellion and sinful nation Isreal went to war against the Philistines in 1st Samuel 4 they lost the battle and also lost the glory. The ark of the LORD was taken way.  1 Samuel 4:21-22 Then she named the child Ichabod, saying, “The glory has departed from Israel!” because the ark of God had been captured and because of her father-in-law and her husband. And she said, “The glory has departed from Israel, for the ark of God has been captured.” Dear one God's presence or glory is not your regalia, where you choose when and how to hear it. His presence is His and He determines when and who qualifies to wear it.
The funny thing is that in our sinful and unrepented state we parade ourselves as glory-filled individuals ready to face the devil, it is in those times that the devil weeps us, God's presence has left us and we are at the mercy of the devil. Repent and ask God for mercy that you may wear the regalia of His presence again to win every victory against the devil.

Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ I repent, Holy Spirit restore every departed glory I lost to sin. Empower me to face my fears and the viles of the wicked one so that I may emerge victorious in the end to the glory of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
