TO GO THE EXTREME

1 Kings 16:31 And as though it were not enough to follow the sinful example of Jeroboam, he married Jezebel, the daughter of King Ethbaal of the Sidonians, and he began to bow down in worship of Baal.

Ahab one of the wicked kings of Israel went to extremes when he decided to marry Jezebel. Jezebel means baal is husband to. It simply means the wife of Baal. Jeroboam's sinful ways were to erect altars for idol worship and to allow people who were not in the priestly line to serve as priests.

1 Kings 13:33-34 But even after this, Jeroboam did not turn from his evil ways. He continued to choose priests from the common people. He appointed anyone who wanted to become a priest for the pagan shrines. This became a great sin and resulted in the utter destruction of Jeroboam’s dynasty from the face of the earth.
To marry outside the the people of God was not an acceptable practice for Israelites the people of God, more so marrying a wife of a God. Who you marry God also becomes your God. The wives of Solomon who were foreign women were able to shift his heart to enter into idol worship.

1 Kings 11:4-6 In Solomon’s old age, they turned his heart to worship other gods instead of being completely faithful to the lord his God, as his father, David, had been. Solomon worshiped Ashtoreth, the goddess of the Sidonians, and Molech, the detestable god of the Ammonites. In this way, Solomon did what was evil in the lord’s sight; he refused to follow the lord completely, as his father, David, had done. You cannot separate your spouse from his or her God. In God's infinite wisdom, His children should marry among themselves. Father Abraham the Patriarch of our Faith ensured Isaac his beloved son married from his people. You must marry someone who shares the same spiritual experience with. One faith, one God, one baptism.
