PASSING THE TEST OBEDIENCE

1 Kings 13:20-21 Now it happened, as they sat at the table, that the word of the Lord came to the prophet who had brought him back; and he cried out to the man of God who came from Judah, saying, "Thus says the Lord: `Because you have disobeyed the word of the Lord, and have not kept the commandment which the Lord your God commanded you.

It is very easy to detect that you are disobeying God's word or a counsel is out of God's will when such suggestions come from an unbeliever. The difficulty comes when you have to discern whether a counsel given to you by a believer or servant of God is in God's will. The man of God we read about yesterday was able to pass the first one. He refused to yield to the bribery of the king and fully obeyed God but when it came to the senior man of God he failed the obedience test. Jesus Christ went through both tests while on Earth and passed both. He was tested by the chief unbeliever the devil and his chief disciple Peter.

The word of God to you, the instructions of God or the leadings of God to you does not change no matter who and where is coming from. If there has been any change in plan God will communicate it to you first, what others say will be a confirmation. The highest form of disobedience is against God and not human. It is an abomination and insult to God when you decide to obey any human instruction over that of God, it is equivalent to idolatry worshipping the creature instead of the Creator. Matthew 16:22-23 Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, "Far be it from You, Lord; this shall not happen to You!" But He turned and said to Peter, "Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men."

Peter is not the devil, but as holy and genuine as he was the devil was using him to cause Jesus Christ to disobey the will of the Father. The devil is waiting to devour you, scorn you and rejoice once you disobey God. 1 Kings 13:23-24 So it was, after he had eaten bread and after he had drunk, that he saddled the donkey for him, the prophet whom he had brought back. When he was gone, a lion met him on the road and killed him. And his corpse was thrown on the road, and the donkey stood by it. The lion also stood by the corpse. A donkey was spared and a human was devoured. You are the devil's target and your disobedience will give him access to devour you.

Prayer: Father forgive me of any disobedience towards you. Devil for am wiser today I won't be your prey, I commit myself to obeying God's word fully in Jesus' name.  Amen
