THE MAN OF GOD

1 Kings 13:8 But the man of God said to the king, “Even if you gave me half of everything you own, I would not go with you. I would not eat or drink anything in this place.

We live in a generation where the title man of God and woman of God abounds. It has almost become a cliche. A man of God or a woman of God will be tested with certain things. The test often starts with the fundamental which is food. Our first earthly parents failed the food test but the Second Adam, Jesus Christ passed the food test. Matthew 4:4 But He answered and said, "It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.`"

All other creations of God live on bread alone except for human beings. We don't live on bread alone, but by the word as well. Therefore any human being who lives on bread only without God's word is a malnourished being. Secondly, a man or a woman of God does not take their reward from men. Kings 13:7-8 Then the king said to the man of God, "Come home with me and refresh yourself, and I will give you a reward." But the man of God said to the king, “Even if you gave me half of everything you own, I would not go with you. I would not eat or drink anything in this place. A servant will go through this test. The temptation to bow to the devil or people for power and favour.

Matthew 4:8-10 Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, "All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me." Then Jesus said to him, "Away with you,  Satan! For it is written, `You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.` " A man or woman of God must be able to reject the earthly rewards even to a half of a kingdom to be able to gain the heavenly rewards from God. It is a shame how some acclaimed men and women of God have reduced themselves and twisted the truth of God's word sent through them to political figures, kings and high-ranking officials just to gain their favour and rewards. If you are of God then you will place priority on His and diligently seek Him because He is a rewarder.

Prayer: Holy Spirit create in me a passionate desire for God's word and the boldness to proclaim the truth of God's word before all men everywhere I find myself in Jesus' name. Amen.
