THE ENERGY FOR WORK

1 Samuel 14:27  But Jonathan had not heard his father’s command, and he dipped the end of his stick into a piece of honeycomb and ate the honey. After he had eaten it, he felt refreshed.

Jonathan and his armour bearer had gone out to do mighty things for God. Jonathan did not know his father had declared a day of fast for the army. In the cause of their trips, they came to a honeycomb but all the soldiers did not have a taste except for Jonathan. After having a taste of it, he was now informed about the oath. 1 Samuel 14:28-30 But one of the men saw him and said, “Your father made the army take a strict oath that anyone who eats food today will be cursed. That is why everyone is weary and faint.” “My father has made trouble for us all!” Jonathan exclaimed. “A command like that only hurts us. See how refreshed I am now that I have eaten this little bit of honey.  If the men had been allowed to eat freely from the food they found among our enemies, think how many more Philistines we could have killed!”

From the scriptures, we can see that all of the military guys were famished. Apart from spiritual preparation you also need to be prepared physically through healthy eating and physical exercise. The Bible never said physical exercise is not needed, it said its profit is little but we need that little profit to keep us going. Unless you are been led by the Spirit is not advisable to fast on a day you know you will be involved in a lot of physical activities. preparing for meetings and events requires a lot of energy. When you are in your full strength you can do more physically.

Learn to prepare spiritually ahead of events and appear on the day full of the Holy Spirit and physically stable as well. Jesus Christ had his forty days experience in the wilderness, he came full of the Spirit. When he was moving and working He ate to be energized for His assignment. John 4:6-8 Jacob’s well was there; and Jesus, tired from the long walk, sat wearily beside the well about noontime. Soon a Samaritan woman came to draw water, and Jesus said to her, “Please give me a drink.” He was alone at the time because his disciples had gone into the village to buy some food. Remember the Holy Spirit in a feeble body cannot accomplish much.

Prayer: Holy Spirit give me the wisdom and insight in dealing with my physical body in Jesus' name. Amen
