CONTENTMENT
Ezekiel 17:7 "’ But there was another great eagle with powerful wings and full plumage. The vine now sent out its roots toward him from the plot where it was planted and stretched out its branches to him for water. It had been planted in good soil by abundant water so that it would produce branches, bear fruit and become a splendid vine.’
The riddle of the two eagles is a story used by God through Ezekiel to teach the people of Israel the lesson of contentment and respect for an oath. The riddle is explained in verse eleven downward. A leader in Israel's royal family made a treaty with the king of Babylon but later broke the oath to seek the help of Egypt because it felt Egypt was a stronger nation. Because of discontentment, we bring a lot of issues upon ourselves; we keep involving ourselves in different cases, which complicates our life. Israel could maintain their treaty with the Babylonians without complicating
matters, but they were dissatisfied and wanted something more, and they thought God would back them. God does not rescue you from things you did without His consultation. He only comes in when you repent. I believe, like the people of Isreal, you may be involved in one thing or the other that is complicating issues for you. The word of God is encouraging us to be content and have respect for an oath. If you believe you erred, the best way is to turn to God and seek forgiveness.
Prayer: Holy Spirit touch my heart and soul and deal with the spirit of dissatisfaction that is robbing me of my joy and peace of mind in Jesus' name. Amen.
