A DIRGE FROM GOD

Ezekiel 19:1-2 "Sing this funeral song for the princes of Israel: 'What is your mother? A lioness among lions! She lay down among the young lions and reared her cubs.

A dirge is a mournful poem or piece of music composed or performed as a memorial to a dead person. Today God composes a dirge to be sung to the Prince of Israel. He starts with the mother of Israel being a lioness who reared her young cubs and empowered one who became strong. His fame spread, and was captured by enemies; she didn't give up. She raised another champion again but was captured again by enemies. The dirge ends with the glory of the mother of the Prince of Israel, who was called a vine by God. Why is a dirge about the kings of Israel so much about their mother and not the kings? Because their mother laid an excellent foundation for them to follow, the current generation has thrown it away. They were born to rule, but sin and disobedience against God have ruined them. These are the last words of the dirge Ezekiel 19:14 A fire has come from its branches and devoured its fruit. None of the remaining limbs is strong enough to be a ruler's scepter.' This is a funeral song, and it is now time for the funeral." If the foundations are destroyed, how can the righteous stand? You are going nowhere as a believer if you forsake the foundation of the faith handed over to you. We have been called to follow Christ Jesus and His teaching and to continue in them; then will God sing our praises.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, empower me through your teachings to continue in the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and His teachings. Amen.
