THE WEAPON OF COUNSEL

Proverbs 24:6 Surely you need guidance to wage war, and victory is won through many advisers.

Counsel is a strength necessary for war: kings and states, before they go for a war, they should not only consider the justness of their cause, but should consult whether they have a sufficiency of men and money to carry it on; and they should consider the wisest methods to attack the enemy, or defend themselves; and, above all, should ask counsel of God.

 Luke 14:31 "Or suppose a king is about to go to war against another king. Will he not first sit down and consider whether he is able with ten thousand men to oppose the one coming against him with twenty thousand?

In this journey of life at all levels, we need counsel as one of the greatest weapons to win victory at all times. From our walk with the Lord, warfare against the devil, our education, ministry, finances, relationships, marriage, raising children, etc. Counsel is needed. One of the Spirit that Christ Jesus operated in the spirit of counsel. 

Isaiah 11:2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD. 

A common saying in our generation is experience is the best teacher. But it is wiser to draw insight and counsel from people with experience so you don't fall in the same error. Counsel will save you from harsh experiences of Life and delays. Those who forsake godly learn their lessons the hard way. When King Saul refused to heed the wise counsel of Samuel he lost his kingship when Adam and Eve went against the counsel of the Lord see the outcome of their disobedience and the consequence on humanity when the prodigal son refuse the counsel of his father see how his life ended up; feeding with pigs. 

Proverbs 11:14 Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counselors, there is safety. Never venture into anything without seeking godly counsel. Godly counsel will save you and others around you. The Holy Spirit and the word of God is our foremost counselor.  John 14:26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Psalms 119:105 Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.

Then identify some godly people who have excelled in the area you want to venture in and seek their counsel. Proverbs 1:5 let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance. Hebrews 13:7 Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. Counsel is a great weapon that guarantees victory don't go through life without seeking counsel. 

Prayer: Dear Lord,help me submit to counsel, act, and live in Your wisdom given me in Jesus name. Amen
