YOUR FIRST LOVE

Revelation 2:4-5 Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first. Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.

The church of Ephesus had its pluses in God's eyes. These are undeniable truths about the Church of Ephesus because is Jesus Christ Himself who affirms them for the good things they do. Revelation 2:2-3 I know your deeds, your hard work, and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked people, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false. You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary.
It simply means God knows the state of every Church and the state of every believer. And to be honest every church had something that God commended them for notwithstanding that every church had a weakness. And these weaknesses can cause the displacement of the church. Beloved, you are the church of the living God. Precious one you may be doing well in some aspects in your walk with the Lord but if you don't ponder over your weakness and work on it you are going to be displaced from your original position in God. The error of the Ephesus Church was not many Jesus says I have this thing against you. The Ephesus Church is the first Church that was mentioned and their error was forsaking the love they have at first. Beloved this is not the first time we are hearing about the Ephesus, we heard about them in the book of Acts 19 & 20. And in Acts 19:20 So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed and in Acts 20:32 And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified. Our first love is our love for the word of God. We heard the word and we were saved by the word. John 1:1&3, In the beginning, was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made. Your first love is God's word. God is not satisfied with us until we return to the word. Without the word of God, you have no inheritance with God.

Prayer: Father I thank you for the availability of your word. Holy Spirit I open up to you, help me to crave for God's word in Jesus' name. Amen.
