URBAN WORSHIP
Revelation 2:12-14 "To the angel of the church in Pergamum write: These are the words of him who has the sharp, double-edged sword. I know where you live —where Satan has his throne. Yet you remain true to my name. You did not renounce your faith in me, not even in the days of Antipas, my faithful witness, who was put to death in your city —where Satan lives. Nevertheless, I have a few things against you: There are some among you who hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to entice the Israelites to sin so that they ate food sacrificed to idols and committed sexual immorality.
Pergamum means heights/ Elevation. In Christ's revelation of himself to the church of Pergamun He says these are the words who has sharp, double-edged sword. Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Pergamum in recent times can be likened to cities like New York City and the likes. The town was known for its wealth and fame. Pergamum, like most cities and towns in today's era, has seen tremendous improvement; there has been a massive technological shift with violation of God's law a common thing in this era, but in the midst of all these, the church of the living God must thrive. Thriving in the midst of civilization church for the body of Christ has not been easy. While some believers remain faithful and focus on the teachings of Christ Jesus, others are drifting away and accepting the standards of the world. Never think that all believers are compromising. In the midst of all that is happening, people are faithfully serving God just as in the days of Pergamum. Are you among those in the body of Christ drifting away or faithfully serving God? Our Lord Jesus Christ is calling you back to a place of repentance. Repent and be saved. God's word is His sword which he expects to transform us, and that same word will that which the Lord will use against us if we fail to repent.
Prayer: Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I open myself to your word for its transformative power to escape your judgment in Jesus' name. Amen
