THE FAILURE OF THE WISE AND THE PRUDENT

Isaiah 29:13-14 And the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw nigh [unto me], and with their mouth and with their lips to honor me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear of me is a commandment of men which hath been taught [them]; therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder; and the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.

Nations, societies, tribes, institutions, and organizations thrive on the services of wise and prudent personalities; they are great assets wherever they find themselves. Prudent and wise personalities show keen discernment in adapting means to ends; circumspect in action, or in determining any line of conduct; careful, discreet, sensible. But a time comes where these liked qualities perish and gets hidden. Why would society lose such assets? We lose such personalities because our fear of God is based on commandments given by such men. With our mouth and lips, we claim to honour God but really our heart is far away from God and our hearts are drawn towards the wisdom and counsel of mortal men. Has not the Lord our God said in Isaiah 42:8 "I am the LORD; that is my name! I will not yield my glory to another or my praise to idols. No matter how nice and appealing the counsel of the wise and prudent may seem it should never be considered above God's word. Therefore we find ourselves in a generation where you baffle at the wisdom of the wise and prudent; their wisdom looks like trash. Unless we return to God and serve Him wholeheartedly independent of the opinion of men the wise and prudent will continue to perish.

Prayer: Father humanity has erred in choosing the counsel of men over your word. Lord Jesus Christ forgive us as we surrender our hearts totally to obey God above human opinions. Thank you, Jesus Christ, for showing us mercy. Amen.
