THOSE YOU CALL TO STAND WITH YOU

Mark 14:34 & 40

Then He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch.” And when He returned, He found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy; and they did not know what to answer Him.

Even Jesus Christ needed prayer support. In the garden of Gethsemane before the night of His betrayal, he took with Him Peter, James, and John and confined in them His fears and asked for prayers from them. There is something we can learn from Jesus' experience.

One key thing to note about Jesus Christ in this story is that he did not solely rely on His core disciples to pray. He went to God in prayer Himself and asked them to stay back to support Him. Beloved, no matter what you are going through, you need to approach God personally with your issue.
Your issue cannot be compared with that of Jesus Christ, yet He prayed. Jesus admitted. Then He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. In pain, sorrow, hurt, disappointment, sickness, breakdown, crisis, and so on, go before God just as you are. You don't need to be strong to approach God in your weakness; when you go to God, you return in strength. Isaiah 40:30-31 Even youths will become exhausted, and young men will give up. But those who wait on the Lord will find new strength. They will fly high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.

Another quality Jesus displayed was His commitment to the will of God despite the task ahead. Do you seek God to alleviate your pain, or do you go to him to seek to strengthen to execute His will for your life?
The strength of God abounds more unto us when we seek to do His will and not our desires.
Now to the core disciples of Jesus Christ. They can be compared to people we rely on or look up to for support in times of need. Jesus Christ said these about His friends. Jesus's victory in the garden had nothing to do with His core disciples. And when He returned, He found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy; and they did not know what to answer Him. Quit trusting people for what only you and God can do for your situation. Nobody can pray better for you than you are praying for yourself. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak." Genuinely people have willing spirits to support us, but they can be limited in the flesh. The body of the core disciples was too weak to stand with him in prayers. For you, it may not be prayer support from a brother or sister, but it may be academic help, counsel, financial and so on. Just in case you find people willing to support you may their bodies and resources be enough to render you the needed help.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, empower me to always go to the father with my weakness to receive strength to walk in His will for my life, and grant bodily strength to all I desire to stand with me in difficult times in Jesus' name. Amen
