SOILED MORALITY

Isaiah 24:5: The earth is defiled by its people; they have disobeyed the laws, violated the statutes, and broken the everlasting covenant.

We are not to forget The Lord's covenant with us, as His children. 1 Chronicles 16:15 Be mindful of His covenant forever, the promise which He commanded and established to a thousand generations,

We look around our world now with its patterns and systems forsaking God's moral standards for humanity, we are failing to recognize God's sure ways for us to walk in.

"Defiled", in this verse, is speaking of soil in a moral sense. We see the reasons for the earth being destroyed in this verse. Sin is the transgression of God's law. They have transgressed not only the law of God but the law of nature, as well.

God had put limits, or ordinances, on the conduct of the people. It appears they had disregarded God's limits and gone beyond His limits. They changed the ordinance of God to suit themselves. God had made a blood covenant with His people, and they disregarded the covenant.

In the Old Testament, the circumcision of the men was a sign of keeping the covenant made between Abraham and God. The covenant the Christian has with God is the acceptance of the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ in full atonement for his, or her, sin. Without the shedding of blood, there is no life.

"Everlasting covenant”. Likely, this referred to the Abrahamic Covenant, frequently referred to as “everlasting” which contained devotion to God’s moral law and salvation by faith in Him.

Genesis 17:7  “I will confirm my covenant with you and your descendants after you, from generation to generation. This is the everlasting covenant: I will always be your God and the God of your descendants after you. God always stands by His covenant with His children, He loves us and expects us to stay in His covenant with us.

Psalms 105:8 He always stands by his covenant— the commitment he made to a thousand generations. Let us return to the Lord and keep the covenant He had with man, to keep His grace and mercy being sustained in our lives. The blood of Jesus is still working, activating the power of the covenant. Jesus loves you, accept His love, and be saved.

Prayer: I come before You, my Lord, and King, truly submitting to your rule and Lordship, surrounding to your authority and standards, let me be mindful of your covenant with me in Jesus' name. Amen
