YOUR ASSOCIATION MATTERS

Psalms 1:1 Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers.

David is described by God as a man after His heart. God endorses and approves of David. The testimony of God about any man is perfect. If God is calling David a man after His heart, then the writings of such a personality should not be taken for granted at all. It is worth noting how this man, great in God's sight begins his writings. He began by cautioning us about associations.

The opening of the writings about the man after God's heart I think probably should start with how to go after God's heart, or probably because David is known for worship and many battles he will start with something related to these things but no. The opening chapter of Psalms begins with a note of advice about our association. Psalms 1:1 Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers.
Who are your associates? Who do you take counsel from? Who have you joined yourself with, with whom and where do you often appear or present yourself?

Your association will make or unmake you. David through many life experiences came to this conclusion and thought it prudent enough to be the first thing he commended as he penned down his first writing. To substitute wrong association He gives the right or the best thing to do in verse Two. Psalms 1:2 But they delight in the law of the lord, meditating on it day and night. Replace wrong association with delighting in God's word and you the blessings of the Lord in dues season. Psalms 1:3 They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.

Prayer: Holy Spirit from today I disconnect myself from wrong associations. Holy Spirit as I study and meditate on the word give me understanding that will take me into the write associations in Jesus' name. Amen!
