THE FATHER'S SON - INTRODUCTION

Psalms 2:12 Submit to God’s royal son, or he will become angry, and you will be destroyed amid all your activities— for his anger flares up in an instant. But what joy for all who take refuge in him!

The second chapter in the Psalms of David verse seven makes mention of the Father and his son. The same chapter ends on the note of submission to God's son. The New Living Translation says to submit God's Royal Son. Jesus Christ is the only person in history who identifies himself as the son of God. Several times in the Bible Jesus Christ calls God his father.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Mark 14:61-62 But He kept silent and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked Him, saying to Him, “Are You the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?”Jesus said, “I am. And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven.” John 10:30 I and My Father are one.” These are a few scriptures among others where Jesus is mentioned calling Himself the Son of God. Every child knows his or her father just as Jesus Knows His Father. It is worth noting that Jesus Christ never mentioned Joseph in the scriptures as His Father, Neither did the angel who appeared to Joseph in the dream call Joseph the Father of Jesus Christ. Matthew 2:13 Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, “Arise, take the young Child and His mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I bring you word; for Herod will seek the young Child to destroy Him.” The angel did not say take your child but the child.

It was neighbours around and the people who mentioned Joseph as the father of Jesus Christ, Jesus never called him father while on earth. Luke 4:22 So all bore witness to Him and marvelled at the gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth. And they said, “Is this not Joseph’s son?” Matthew 13:55 - 56 Is this not the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary? And His brothers James, Joses, Simon, and Judas? And His sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this Man get all these things?”  John 6:42 And they said, “Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How is it then that He says, ‘I have come down from heaven’?” Again, it is also worth noting that in the Jewish culture and in many other cultures of the world fathers are supposed to name their children. In the case of Jesus, the name was given to Mary. Luke 1:31 You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. The mandate of naming was given to Mary disassociating Joseph as the Father of Jesus Christ. It will marvel you to know there about six or more other witnesses in the Bible who affirm Jesus Christ as the son of God. We will delve into that tomorrow God willing.

Prayer: Holy Spirit opening the eyes of my understanding about Jesus Christ the Son of the Living  God. That I may know Him and help others to also know Him. Amen!
