THE SCARLET OF A HOOKER

Joshua 2:18 When we come into the land, you must leave this scarlet rope hanging from the window through which you let us down. And all your family members—your father, mother, brothers, and all your relatives—must be here inside the house.

The city of Jericho was a  land that truly flowed with honey and milk, it was fortified by a mighty wall that men could walk upon. They had mighty and strong men who were the descendants of Anak. Yet God had promised to give that mighty nation to His people Israel. Numbers 13:27 -30 Then they told him, and said: “We went to the land where you sent us. It truly flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit.

Nevertheless, the people who dwell in the land are strong; the cities are fortified and very large; moreover, we saw the descendants of Anak there.
The Amalekites dwell in the land of the South; the Hittites, the Jebusites, and the Amorites dwell in the mountains; and the Canaanites dwell by the sea and along the banks of the Jordan.” Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.” The two spies who were sent to survey the land before the eventual invasion went to a woman who was despised to the core. The woman attested to the fear that had come upon the people of Jericho because of the Israelites. She pleaded for safety on the day of invasion that her household be spared. 

Joshua 2:12-13 “Now swear to me by the lord that you will be kind to me and my family since I have helped you. Give me some guarantee that when Jericho is conquered, you will let me live, along with my father and mother, my brothers and sisters, and all their families.” The spies did not promise her troop of soldiers with spears and javelins no! They just needed her to do one thing to put the scarlet on the window and that will guarantee their redemption. On the final day, it is those who have been washed and cleansed by the blood who will be saved. When the devil sees the blood he passes over. It is the blood of Jesus Christ that saves. Have you been washed in the blood? Colossians 1:19-20 For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through him, God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.

Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ I come to you for the cleansing power of the blood for in your blood is my redemption and that of my household. Thank you, Jesus Christ.
