THE LAW OF CHRIST

Galatians 6:1 Dear bro

thers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself. Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ.

Society thrives on laws to ensure peace and stability, and the protection of human rights and freedom. In Christ also there are laws but His is light and not burdensome. Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” The law of Christ has brought freedom to many. Romans 8:2 And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the law of sin and death. Your freedom is in Christ. The law we have in Christ is summed up in two things. Our love for God and our love for our fellow humans.
Matthew 22:37-40 Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’This is the first and greatest commandment.  A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.” As simple as it is that is how God demonstrates His love for us through Christ Jesus. Just as He loved us He expects us to love one another, not condemning those who fall short but we should correct in love taking heed lest we fall.

Prayer: Holy Spirit fill my heart with your love that may live my life reconciling people to you in Jesus' name. Amen.
