ROLLED AWAY

Joshua 5:9 Then the lord said to Joshua, “Today I have rolled away the shame of your slavery in Egypt.” So that place has been called Gilgal to this day.

The circumcision of the second generation of Israel was an eventful one. Before they could possess the promised Land God had to command Joshua to circumcise them.  Joshua 5:2 At that time the lord told Joshua. “Make flint knives and circumcise this second generation of Israelites.” The shedding of blood is an eternal covenant God has with humanity when it comes to transitions that alter our destiny for good. Before the people of Israel could leave Egypt the sacrifice of bulls and rams had to take place to give access from their bondage in Egypt.

Exodus 12:6-7 Now you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of the same month. Then the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it at twilight. And they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses where they eat it. This was the institution of the Passover. Again when the second generation had to cross over to Jericho they had to be circumcised which took away the shame of slavery. In the same vein, Jesus Christ had to shed His blood on the cross of Calvary to signify our transition from the bondage of sin into the Kingdom of God. At the resurrection, the rolling away of the stone at the tomb of Jesus Christ took away our shame of slavery. We are free in Jesus name. Mark 16:3-4 And they said among themselves, “Who will roll away the stone from the door of the tomb for us?” But when they looked up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away—for it was very large.

Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ I thank you that through the shedding of your blood, every reproach has been taken away from me.
