THE UNFRUITFUL WORD

1 Kings 22:29 So King Ahab of Israel and King Jehoshaphat of Judah led their armies against Ramoth-Gilead.

James 1:22-25 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.
The fruitfulness of God's word will be seen in your life only when you obey. King Jehosaphat took the beautiful step of consulting God concerning the battle against Ramoth-Gilead. He had so much discernment that he knew that the four hundred prophets of Ahab were telling lies about the victory. He then went a step further to inquire of the prophet Micaiah who told the truth that they would be defeated in the battle.

After this consultation, Jehosaphat still went into battle with his father-in-law against Ramoth-Gilead. But for the mercies of God, he would have lost his life on the battlefield. 1 Kings 22:31-34 Now the king of Syria had commanded the thirty-two captains of his chariots, saying, “Fight with no one small or great, but only with the king of Israel.” So it was, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, “Surely it is the king of Israel!” Therefore they turned aside to fight against him, and Jehoshaphat cried out. And it happened when the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him. There is no profit in disobeying God's word. If you know you won't obey don't go for the word. The word of God works only when it is obeyed or implemented. If you hear God's word and you do not practice it is called self-deception.

Prayer: Holy Spirit help me to obey your word and not to compromise so your word will be fruitful in my life in Jesus' name. Amen
