HAVE YOU EXPERIENCED JOY?
Psalms 32:1 A psalm of David. Oh, what joy for those whose rebellion is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight! Yes, what joy for those whose record the Lord has cleared of sin, whose lives are lived in complete honesty!
Oh is used to express different emotions such as disappointment, anger, or joy. The oh in today's text is expressing the joy David experienced when his many sins were forgiven and blotted out of sight by God. He is also joyous because he has been released from the burden of sin. Sin rids each one of us of joy. Note there is a difference between happiness and joy. Happiness is expressed based on immediate happenings or feelings, while joy is the excitement that comes from within despite circumstances, and it is a gift of the Holy Spirit. Sin may make you happy, but it won't give you joy. Joy is experienced when your sins are forgiven. You don't know joy until you have experienced the forgiveness of God that comes through the death and resurrection of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. You are guilty until declared otherwise by God, which is done only through Jesus Christ.
Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, I come to you today; I admit I am a sinner and my guilt is a heavy height on me; forgive my sins through the cleaning power of your blood and blot away every guilty and cause me to experience the joy of Salvation.
