THE NEW

Hebrews 8:8 But when God found fault with the people, he said: “The day is coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and Judah.

Old things are usually discarded because they may be beyond repairs, outmoded or they have outlived their relevance or they may be faulty. Hebrews 8:13 By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear.

God has moved away from dealing with us on the bases of the old convenant. The problem is with us, we find it difficult to embrace new things. Some are trying to mix the old with the new, causing greater disaster. Luke 5:36-39

He told them this parable: “No one tears a piece out of a new garment to patch an old one. Otherwise, they will have torn the new garment, and the patch from the new will not match the old. And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the new wine will burst the skins; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, new wine must be poured into new wineskins. And no one after drinking old wine wants the new, for they say, ‘The old is better.’

We will never experience the blessing of the new, if we don't discard the old. One sure fundamental principle of the New convenant is doing away with the old. 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I forget about the former things and I behold the new things you are doing with Christ Jesus in my life. Amen.
