EARNING THE BADGE OF HONOUR

 

Hebrews 11:2 Through their faith, the people in days of old earned a good reputation.

Good reputation is a great asset to everyone. We are all doing everything in our means to protect our reputation. To have a good reputation is like wearing a white garment. You are very careful not to soil it. Good reputation in our world is often earned through academic laurels, good deeds, making bold decisions, philanthropic works amongs others. This is the lense through which the world rates good reputation by what they see you achieve. God has a different lense all together. Hebrews eleven enlists some of God's people who were known for their good reputation.  

The chapter begins with the definition of faith: Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. What gave these people a good reputation is their faith. Hebrews 11: 6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. With God all things are possible, all things only becomes impossible without faith. God's badge of honour is won through faith. You want to have a good reputation with God? Then live a faith
