TROUBLES UPON TROUBLES
Psalms 20:1-2 In times of trouble, may the lord answer your cry. May the name of the God of Jacob keep you safe from all harm. May he send you help from his sanctuary and strengthen you from Jerusalem.
Psalm twenty touches on common prayers often prayed by everyone; believers and unbelievers alike. Psalms 20:1 In times of trouble, may the lord answer your cry. May the name of the God of Jacob keep you safe from all harm. In life, we desire to avoid troubles, but they come anyway.
Jacob had a lot of troubles in life; he had trouble with his brother Esau; when he was travelling to his uncle's house, he had troubles with hunger and accommodation and even had a stone for a pillow. Jacob had marital troubles; upon arrival at his uncle's house, he worked for fourteen years before he got his desired wife. As if these were not enough he also had work troubles.
His wages were changed seven times to his disadvantage. Jacob had a lot of troubles in life but God came through for him in all situations. Out of the troubled man came the twelve tribes of Israel. Psalms 34:19 The righteous person faces many troubles, but the lord comes to their rescue each time.
Jacob's troubles sum up the common troubles of life today: family, travel, accommodation, marriage, work and the like. As you go through all these just call on God. Your troubles may be less, more or equal to those of Jacob, but certainly, the God of Jacob is the God who turns troubles into triumphs.
Prayer: My Father, the God of Jacob, I call upon this day to look upon my troubles; Lord answer me and send me help as you did for Jacob, the man with many troubles. Turn my troubles into triumphs in Jesus' name. Amen!
